In response to the professing Atheist- Mr. Wilkins’ question regarding my concept of religion and its opposition with science:

The Word Web defines religion as: 1. a strong belief in a supernatural Power or Powers, controlling human destiny; It also defines religion as: 2. an institution or establishment to express belief in a Divine Power;

Given definition number 1, I can agree with Word Web that religion can mean intense (i.e., indestructible and indissoluble- Ephesians 6:24) faith or belief in God or the Godkind, referring to the Trinity (Please confer with the link below regarding the Trinitarian concept.), because only God or the Godkind possess(es) supernatural powers (i.e., omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence) which direct(s) human destiny, conditioned to a certain extent by human choices and preferences. In this regard, religion is a human individual's faith or belief in God.

Given definition number 2, I can agree with Word Web that religion can also mean an association or organization expressing belief in God. In this regard, religion is an affiliation and/or group of people believing in God. Therefore, different church establishments and/or organizations can also be labeled religions, whether their different beliefs are valid or not.

Yet, whether we agree with definition number 1 or number 2 (i.e., individual or collective faith or belief in God, respectively) or both, the substance, as well as the focus or focal point of the faith or belief ought to be correct. Otherwise, such faith or belief is useless & invalid. For instance, it cannot be reconciled or harmonized or settled that my belief in Jesus as God Incarnate would confirm the Deity of Islam's Allah of the Qur'an or Koran.

Since my Christian Bible (i.e., the Holy Scriptures) teaches no true God named Allah (I John 5:20; I Chronicles 16:26), I cannot agree (as a Christian) that Allah is God. That would be blasphemy before the presence of my authentic God- the Lord Jesus Christ! That would be totally opposed to the very eternal purpose of God the Father for His above- mentioned beloved Son (Ephesians 3:11; Matthew 17:5), as well as with the very witness/testimony and confirmation of God the Holy Spirit, concerning Christ Jesus (John 16:7-15; 14:26; 15:26).

The Bible's description of pure or clean or blameless religion and undefiled or unpolluted or faultless before God the Father is: 1. to visit the fatherless and widows in their afflictions or troubles or difficulties; and 2. to keep one's self unspotted or clean or flawless from the world (I John 2:15-17; II Corinthians 6:17; James 1:27). In this context, religion means ceremonial observance (not the one being practiced or exercised by deceitful or dishonest and hypocritical or insincere religious leaders like many Pharisees and scribes or professional writers during the times of Christ’s ministry here on earth) and/or worship.

The Greek word used was "threskeia". Therefore, keeping one's self holy, righteous and pure (I Corinthians 1:30) & helping those in need (like the fatherless and widows) are ceremonial observances or customs or practices well pleasing and very much acceptable to the Lord Jesus Christ! In fact they are forms of worship before the Lord Jesus.

Any human undertaking and endeavor or efforts pleasing to the “Good” Lord Jesus Christ are forms of worship unto Him. Being ceremonial or decorous or well- mannered in the context of religion is not bad after all, provided what you are doing are in tune with the will of the Lord Jesus Christ (Colossians 3:23-24, 17; I Corinthians 10:31; II Corinthians 10:5). In other words, you are having right relationship with Him.

Hello, Wayne!!! Regarding my definition of religion, please allow me to define it for the purpose of this discussion, as mere faith or belief in all Jesus' teachings in the Bible (John 21:25; 20:30-31). You are incorrect in implying (i.e., indirectly or vaguely assuming) that science (i.e., not falsely so- called science- I Timothy 6:20) and the teachings of the Lord Jesus in the Bible are not in tune or inharmonious, and therefore, contradictory to each other.

All the Lord Jesus' teachings in the Bible have always proven true, and science was merely catching up with all the truths of the Bible. For instance, it used to be a widely accepted concept that the earth- our very planet is flat. That's what most people claimed during those days, including many scientists, until it got finally proven by science that the earth is indeed circular or spherical in shape.

Does the Bible have something to say about the shape of our planet earth? Definitely, yes! Isaiah 40:22 declares that God who had spread or stretched the heavens (i.e., Jesus- the Creator) sits upon the circle of the earth. Which came 1st, the writing of the Book of Isaiah of the Bible, or science's discovery that the earth is circular or spherical? Answer: The writing of the Book of Isaiah of the Bible. In other words, science merely caught up with the Biblical claim or declaration or assertion that the earth is round. The Bible does not need to prove itself true, because it's already proven.

You can just look at the many changed lives transformed by the "Good" Lord Jesus Christ, from generation to generation, including the many multitudes who have received outstanding miracles, wrought or done or performed by Jesus, because those people have acted on the written words of Jesus, by faith. You can even just appreciate the reality of the Creator God (i.e., the "Good" Lord Jesus Christ- Isaiah 44:24; Hebrews 1:10; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11) by merely seeing the very things of nature (i.e., plants, animals and landscapes, etc.) that were created beautiful and appropriate (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Yes, Jesus even created us all (both good- looking and otherwise; both healthy and otherwise; both capable and incapable- Exodus 4:11; John 9:1-7). Everything has a purpose! Everything has a time or a season (Ecclesiastes 3:1)!! Everything has a design!!!

Several days ago (December 29, 2011; Thursday afternoon), we flew some kites nearby a certain park. I was able to fly my kite pretty well and have had some fun. We merely bought those kites, but they were perfectly made and done for the purpose. They have eagle- like shapes or configurations and appearances. And they can simulate well the flight of a true eagle, up there in the beautiful sky.

Somehow, the "Good" Lord Jesus impressed in my mind/thought or consciousness (or was it merely I, myself, appreciating the reality of Jesus- Psalm 14:1; 53:1) that just like the beautiful world which He had originally made (being perfect and flawless- Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31), that beautiful kite I had flown well, had someone made it. And he/she had done it well!

Surrender all your hurts, aches and pains, etc. to Jesus (i.e., Let Him have the things that hold you) and His Spirit like a dove will descend upon your life, and make you whole!! Through or by or via the Lord Jesus Christ, the healing or wholing virtue of God or the Godkind gets to flow. All blessings, "in" Christ Jesus- our Lord (II Corinthians 1:20; Romans 8:32)!!!
